Awakenings

Awakenings is the debut concept album by Sardinian vibraphonist Jordan Corda, released by A.MA Records: a 12- track seamless sound flow exploring the theme of psychological awakenings through the language of contemporary jazz. The work traces a personal journey of growth and awareness, from childhood in Sardinia to moving to mainland Italy (narrated in the track The Continent) and culminating in the realization of the album itself.

Here, the geographical dimension intertwines with deep psychological exploration through a layered soundscape, where samples of dystopian urban sounds from Corda's current life coexist with ancestral Sardinian roots, brought by a prestigious collaboration with the traditional Canto a Tenore Santu Larettu di Silanus.

Giving voice and body to this narrative is an ensemble of international renown featuring Luca Mannutza on piano, Paolo Recchia on saxophone, Daniele Sorrentino on double bass, and Sasha Mashin on drums, who also produced the album.

A journey that finds its natural resolution in the closing title track, Awakenings: a hypnotic, progressive coda fading out into the organic sounds of footsteps across the Sardinian countryside and the return home, moving forward toward the next awakening.
