Sonia Ziccardi
Driade

Blending a distinctive vocal style with innovative musicianship deeply personal, emotive lyrics Sonia Ziccardi's debut album for A.MA Records, Driade, is a nine track master stroke of an album that evokes a Folk-Jazz elegance that is reminiscent of such artists as Pentangle, Wrap Around Joy era Carole King and Joni Mitchell's Jazz influenced series of releases.  Backed by a quartet of accomplished and rising musicians from Rome's live Jazz scene; pianist Vittorio Solimene, alto-saxophonist Gabriel Marciano, drummer Federico Chiarofonte and Alessandro Bintzios on double bass, Driade combines the emotional with the celebratory and espouses the power of brilliantly written, arranged and played songs to tell a story and connect artist with audience. Driade embodies the concept of a mother-son dyadic union, in which the son and the mother coincide, and the mythological figure of the dryad: the beech nymph who embodies strength and flourishing. The album evokes a sense of belonging and respect for one's roots and each track underpins Sonia's unique vocal.
