Entanglements, Fabio Tullio's second album release on A.MA Records, follows his highly acclaimed 2018 release on the label, Tales From Within and once again offers an invitation to join the Tenor and Soprano saxophonist on an exploration of the spiritual and the improvisational qualities of Jazz. Inspired by quantum relationships and the bonding entanglements between particles, Entanglements itself is an album that reflects the experience of putting musicians together to generate something that has never previously existed. This is no better expressed than in the two mlead tracks from this seven track album; the opening number, Don't Forget and the closing opus Untitled Spiritual. The former is something of a zeitgeist capturing moment in music with it's Folk-Jazz sensibilities and driftingly striking vocals from Marta Capponi. The latter track is something that takes more of a spiritual Jazz approach with the Sax playing of Fabio taking the ensemble to a melodic melange of a conclusion where sax and vocals interplay with the rhythms they overlay. Perhaps the concept of the album is best summed up by Fabio himself when he states that, 'after all, music and mathematics have gone hand in hand since their origins. Here, entanglement, as the basic process of making music (especially jazz) and therefore complex themes, melodic lines that move from one instrument to another, overlap, separate and then reunite invites improvisation, each looking for the other, in a creative but still structured entanglement.
