Two Things Of Gold

Two Things of Gold is the name of the eponymous album release from the Rome based Mother and Son production duo of Francesca Sortino and Diego Lombardo.

Preceded by it's lead single Rooms To Go, this double vinyl release includes bespoke studio recordings from its participant artists Roberto Rossi, Alessandro Maiorino, Alberto Parmegiani, Mauro Beggio and Pierpaolo Bisogno along with Francesca's own vocals, laid over Diego's original beats. Allied to these original tracks are three re-imagined pieces; Con Alma by Dizzy Gillespie, Where Flamingos Fly notably by Gil Evans.

Rooms To Go is a melange of Jazz, Disco and Funk grooves in a joyful track which reflects Francesca's recurring dream of finding hidden rooms and secret spaces in her own home. The fourteen tracks of the Two Things of Gold LP juxtaposes and threads tradition with experimentation. Boasting an organic sound that reflects Robert Glasper's statement that 'Jazz is the mother of Hip-Hop' whilst also creating a sound that is at ease with modal jazz inspirations, world splinters, soul music, spiritual jazz and the poems of Robert Frost, Two Things of Gold is quite simply a future modern classic.
