IndiePerCui: Luca Mannutza Quintet - Circles by Marco Zordan

Aesthetic rigor governed by a sonic form that sweeps, leads, and returns to overwhelm inner moments with something more shareable, refined, elegant, capable of embracing new territories, new hopes. A profusion of sound managed through the movements of a whirlwind quintet capable of penetrating the flesh, inspiring daydreams, and simultaneously creating a connection with the listener that's not always easy to find in this contemporary world. Luca Mannutza on piano, Paolo Recchia on alto saxophone, Jordan Corda on vibraphone, Daniele Sorrentino on bass, and Sasha Mashin on drums, perfectly tailor a moody, iridescent album that moves along the earth's longitudes with ease and expertise, perpetuating an ever-changing formula, never static, but rather rich in nuance and detail. The more meditative moments then open up into a flood of beauty that unfolds, as in the title track itself or in Metamorpho, Black Comedy, Herzog, and Vortex, adding depth to the densely textured textures. Circles is a composed and composite album, at times geometric, a jazz album of remarkable depth.
