Drummer Pippo D’Ambrosio is releasing his wonderful album “A Peaceful Place” on October 26th. A Jazz that grooves, a funky Jazz on which the magnificent voices of Donatella Montinaro and Serena Fortebraccio are superimposed, which make it sound like a big American production. It must be said that Antonio Martino's Italian label A.MA Records is full of incredible talent with, among others, Sanja Markovic, Sébastien Jarrousse and Avishai Darash, to name a few. A label that I highly recommend and which can be discovered HERE Pippo D'Ambrosio composed, arranged and conducted the 13 tracks of this disc, he who finds his inspiration in the writings of the ancient Sufi poets Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani, Farid Ad-Din 'Attar', Jalal al Din Rumi, for a reflection on peace as an interior and universal dimension. The ticking of a typewriter introduces us to the record and is the backdrop to David Place's narrative voice. Resolutely joyful and modern, this album is a real nugget that all current jazz fans will appreciate, benefiting from a host of top-level artists:
Pippo D’Ambrosio: Leader/ Drums
Domenico Ares Cartago: Piano, Rhodes, Synt.
Mike Rubini: Alto Sax
Giorgio Distante: Trumpet
Gianluca Luisii: Vibraphone
Marco Bardoscia: Bass & Double Bass
Alberto Parmegiani: Guitar
Francesco Lomangino: Tenor Sax
Donatella Montinaro: Vocals
Serena Armstrong Fortebraccio: Vocals
David Place: Narrating Voice
Giuseppe Tuppi B Larocchia: Turn Tables
Pour la qualité de cet opus, et notamment la réalisation particulièrement pointue, cet album est à classer dans la série des “Indispensables” par les rédactions de Bayou Blue Radio et Paris-Move.
